Bernadette is married with three adult sons, a daughter-in-law, a 5 year old granddaughter and a 3 year old grandson.

She has been working as a Spiritual Director since 2012 and has coined the term ‘Life Conversations’ to describe her approach to Spiritual Direction – through conversation about your experience of life, and attentive listening.

Her spirituality is essentially contemplative and specifically Carmelite. Carmelite spirituality is a spirituality of reception – receiving the free gift of God’s love and responding to that love. Prayer, as Teresa of Jesus (Avila) described it, is an “intimate conversation between friends.”

Much of Bernadette’s work as a Spiritual Director is through The Carmelite Centre Melbourne in the suburb of Middle Park in Melbourne, Australia. She also facilitates reflection days there on various themes.

Her home office is in Mount Waverley, Melbourne, Australia and she is very flexible with finding a mutually suitable time for spiritual direction sessions, including evenings and Saturdays.
